Is traveling only fun when you’re young?
When I was five, I was happy just watching my cousin play Contra.
Even hearing that we were going to his house was enough to make me excited. I would immediately start imagining myself watching him play.
When I was fifteen, I secretly topped up 50 yuan in League of Legends behind my parents’ backs to buy a legendary skin at half price. My adrenaline surged—as if I were an agent carrying out a mission in Mission: Impossible or The Matrix. It was thrilling, dangerous, and incredibly fun.
Afterward, I went to a shady internet café and proudly showed off the skin to my friends. For an entire month of evening study sessions, I kept savoring how smooth it felt to use.
But time changes everything.
If my fifteen-year-old self went back to when I was five, I doubt I would feel excited about watching my cousin play Contra. I would probably find it dull and boring.
And if the person I am today went back to when I was fifteen, secretly spending 50 yuan on a half-price skin would no longer feel thrilling or nerve-racking.
Because I simply wouldn’t care anymore.
So if there is something you believe will make you happy—something that fills you with excitement, joy, and fulfillment—go and do it now.
You never know whether, in the very next moment, you might suddenly lose all interest in it.
And just like that, there will be one less thing in the world capable of bringing a smile to your face.
Time waits for no one.
